Felician Sisters Celebrating 25th Anniversary of Presence and Ministry in South Carolina

From August 11, 1992, Sister M. Johnna Ciezobka and Sister M. Susanne Dziedzic, co-founders of the Felician Center, Kingstree, SC, until August 11, 2017, have offered a compassionate ministry, educational services and loving care to the people of South Carolina. With other Felician Sisters, Sister M. Adrian Jumbelic, Sister M. Clarence Borkowski, Sister M. Jackie Benbenek, Sister Heather M. Deneen and Sister M. Carol Piskor, they have offered a transforming presence to the underserved of this rural economically disadvantaged area of the country.
It has been a year to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the presence and ministry of the Felician Sisters in South Carolina. This occasion was celebrated in a threefold manner:
August 11, 2016 Bishop Robert Gugliemone, Bishop of Charleston, SC celebrated a Mass of Thanksgiving at St. Ann Catholic Church, Kingstree, SC. About 200 guests included parishioners of St. Ann Church, the Knights of Columbus from across the state, other Catholic friends and benefactors as well as Felician Sisters from the Leadership team were present. A festive reception followed at the Felician Outreach Center chaired by Dr. Noreen Steward and board members.

January 26, 2017 On this day, an ecumenical prayer service celebrated the 25th anniversary at Williamsburg Presbyterian Church. Guests included various ecumenical leaders, friends and benefactors from across South Carolina, Felician Sisters from the Buffalo, NY central convent and Dr. Andrea White, Felician Services Inc. President. The Church was filled with music, drama and testimonies from the Kingstree Community Youth Group and former and present students of the Learning Center. Local friends and benefactors attending the service were invited to come forward to place a prayer of thanksgiving on a wood and wire cross. It was heartwarming for the Sisters to watch the 250 adults and children come forward with their prayers and wishes. A catered reception followed in Grace Hall at Williamsburg Presbyterian Church chaired by Jean Nexsen, Lou Easterling and board members.

May 10, 2017 A celebration for former students of the Learning Center and clients served by the Felician Center was held at the Felician Center Outreach Center. Approximately 150 participants listened to Sister Susanne describe the history of the Felician Center, some music by the Siloam Baptist gospel choir and enjoyed a picnic style meal. Afterwards, the guests were invited to the Learning Center to view and take any of the hundreds of pictures from throughout the 25 years. An ice cream truck provided treats for the guests. Sister Johnna Ciezobka, Trudy Rice and board members chaired the event.
On August 11, 2017, there was an APPRECIATION DINNER at INN AT THE CROSSROADS, Lake City, SC for the board members, Linda Tarte and a few more invited guests who have journeyed for 25 years with the Felician Sisters.
All of these celebrations represented an inclusive invitation for all to celebrate with the Felician Sisters. Linda Tarte, friend and benefactor, generously sponsored all of these events. The Felician Sisters are most grateful to Linda. We now journey into a new era for the Felician Center
