Upcoming 25th Anniversary

It was on August 11, 1992, the feast day of St. Clare, that Sister Johnna Ciezobka and Sister Susanne Dziedzic were missioned to begin the St. Ann Outreach Center in Kingstree, SC.

After the Sunday liturgy at St. Ann Catholic Church, the Sisters asked the people for some help to move some furniture at the convent.  The people responded and for the next 25 years their response in love attracted many other volunteers and benefactors from all denominations and across the country to help them assist the People of God in Williamsburg County, SC.

Trudy Rice, Kingstree United Methodist Church and Jean Nexsen, Williamsburg Presbyterian Church became the spirited leaders who initiated the ecumenical movement by inviting others to tutor the children, assist in the food pantry, serve the Blessed Angela meal and serve on the board of directors.  What a sacred journey it has been.  What a testimony to the foundress of the Felician Sisters, Blessed Mary Angela who said, “Always seek the glory of God and the good of your neighbor”.

In time, Bishop Robert Guglielmone, Bishop of Charleston, SC, approved the transfer of St. Ann Outreach Center to the Felician Sisters.  The name was changed to the Felician Center.

It is with a joyful heart that we commemorate these 25 years of compassionate service with our ministry partners to live the gospel of Mathew 25:  When I was hungry, you gave me to eat, when I was thirsty you gave me to drink …and when you did it to the least of my brothers and sisters  you did it to Me.”
