Truckload of Furniture

This past January a semi-truck pulled into the Felician Center parking lot filled with furniture from various Felician Central Convents in the north.  Sister Christopher Moore, Provincial Minister of the Felician Sisters of North America, offered the furniture for the October flood victims in Williamsburg County. Everyone loves a good bargain and many people left with beds, dressers, recliners, mirrors, chairs, lamps and various items. It was quite a sight to behold.  There were so many happy shoppers.

Unfortunately, the minute the back door of the semi was lifted the rain began to come down and continued throughout the unloading process.  It did not dampen the spirits of our neighborhood men, brothers and fathers of our children in the After School Program and our Felician Postulants, who were visiting with us for two weeks. The dining hall at the Felician Center became the drop-off area for the goods.  The truck was unloaded and the goods were sorted and readied for the shoppers.

By the end of the day, just about everything was gone, the sun came out and the Sisters and Postulants were exhausted.  There was a great joy in knowing that so many people were helped with such basic items such as a bed, a chair, and a dresser.  Our Felician Core values were put into action thanks to the generosity of the Felician Sisters of North America.  As the last customers said their goodbyes, one little voice asked, “When will you do this again?”  At that point the expression on the faces of the Sisters and Postulants was priceless!
