Learning Center
“Christmas in July was celebrated on July 24th for registered students. Each received a holiday bag with Christmas gifts, treats, and a fast food gift card. Sister Susanne met with WCSD Superintendent Wilder to discuss school reopening procedures and its impact on the Learning Center. The Learning Center will remain closed until January 2021.
Food Pantry
Additional COVID-19 response funding was received for stocking the food pantry and for the purchase of over-the-counter medications and cleaning supplies. Volunteers and staff prepared 75 “grab ‘n go” over-the-counter medicine bags and grocery store gift cards for Food Pantry participants on July 14th. On July 21st 75 hams were distributed to pantry participants and 75 “grab ‘n go” grocery bags were distributed on July 28th.
Clothing Closet
A variety of clothing was available for free during the Food Pantry time. Gloves were given to the “shoppers”. A one-day sale is being planned for September to include shoes, socks, clothing, bedding, and towel sets. It will be held in the dining area to accommodate social distancing. Nursing students from FMU would be available for health screenings and temperature checks.
