August COVID-19 Updates
August 2020
Learning Center
Kid friendly bags were distributed every Friday until and including August 14th for a total of 129 bags. A “Financial Literacy” event was held at the Learning Center on August 26th. Temperatures and the health status of each participant were checked. Students, accompanied by their parents/guardians, visited four stations where they received payment for correctly identifying coin values and adding given monetary amounts. Students could spend their “earnings” at a mock school store and received play money, a piggy bank, a money workbook and snacks to take home.
Food Pantry
75 pre-filled bags or $20.00 gift cards were distributed every Tuesday. 85 bagged lunches and $10.00 gift cards were given on August 25th.
Census information was passed on to Food Pantry clients.
Clothing Closet
The Sisters and staff prepared and planned for a new method of opening the Clothing Closet in September.
Health Programming
The Sisters met with eye doctor, Dr. Steven Hobbs, in Lake City to discuss offering services to those participating in our health program. (The optometrist in Kingstree retired and there are no others in town.)
Health care services have increased from $250 to $325 per client.
