October Moment

In October, we remember two very important people to the Felician Center. On October 4th, we hold dear the memory of St Francis of Assisi who speaks to us these words: Brothers and sisters, let us begin to serve the Lord, for up till now, we have done very little.

On October 10th, we keep the memory of Blessed Mary Angela, foundress of the Felician Sisters. Born in Poland on May 16, 1825, she responded to God’s call for life by working zealously for the cause of the poor. She served abandoned children and the homeless on Warsaw’s streets. The Felician Sisters, following Blessed Angela’s example, would work to ensure that “in all and by all, God may be known, loved and glorified.”

Blessed Mary Angela blesses us still today with these words:

May He give you a humble love
which expends itself;
A generous love
which forgets itself;
A strong love
which is not afraid of pain;
A stable love
which does not change;
A patient love
which can bear everything;
A fervent love
which never weakens;
A constant love
which never falters.
