Hurricane Ian Response

On September 15th, the Sisters joined the community in preparing sandbags for pre-hurricane defenses. Six bags per person were the limits. These were used to block the doorways of the Learning Center and Outreach Center.

Stocked up with supplies, the prediction for Hurricane IAN was to go right through Kingstree. Winds came and so did the rains but the area was miraculously spared the worst.

The day after the hurricane, Duke Energy offered a breakfast for its employees that had worked for many long hours. Theo Lane from Duke Energy contacted the Sisters to accept food extras to distribute to those who might need it. There was scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy. Amidst the anticipated crisis, there was feasting and the sun continues to shine.
