Starting in 2024, the Felician Center Board began a formal plan to restructure an updated Felician Center image. During Lent 2025, all board members received discernment reflections and shared at the May 2025 board meeting their learnings. Through the summer of 2025, Joe Waters, FCI Mission Leader, and Andrew Bartell, FSI VP Mission Integration engaged board members in one-on-one phone conversations regarding insights of an updated Felician Center image.

In August 2025, all staff, committee chairpersons, members and volunteers joined board members to participate in a succession discernment session led by Joe Waters. A timeline of national and world events since 1990 was displayed. Felician Center began in 1992, over 30 years ago. Individuals were engaged in sharing pivotal moments in the history of Felician Center over the 30 years. Some of these included Felician Sisters coming to SC, expansion of properties, FSI professional and leadership development, training of mission leaders, increase of grants and inclusion of ecumenical lay partners.

The final exercise had small groups brainstorm the image of Felician Center 30 years into the future. An emphasis on the need for AI and technical management, senior housing, children services, more lay leadership, finances, continuation of compassionate services and adherence to core values guaranteed a Felician ministry into the future.

Next steps will be discussed in an upcoming executive session of key leaders.
