On March 7th, the residents of Thorne Avenue, Kingstree, were invited to the 4th and final phase of the NEIGHBORHOOD FORUM held at the Felician Center. Sister Johnna began the meeting with a review of the story of St. Francis when he was inspired to “repair God’s house”. The group followed with the praying of the PEACE PRAYER especially for our sisters and brothers in Ukraine.
Sister Susanne continued with the business of the meeting as the attendees shared comments and stories about all of their home improvements. Of course, other town residents wonder when the project will come to their streets! There was much pride in the room.
The 4th and final phase was introduced. Tree trimming was offered and each attendee received a wire marker with a flag on it to mark where they would want some planting done on their property.
The following week 50 lb. bags of miracle grow soil and 80 5-gallon encore azaleas were delivered and prepared for planting by the houses. Dexter Burgess organized the planting. The beautification portion of the project was in motion. Households received welcome door mats as the final touch. And in the end as told in the Genesis story of creation, “it was good”.
