Polish Christmas Open House

The Felician Sisters in Kingstree, SC welcomed board members and staff to a Polish Christmas Open House at their two convents. The guests were greeted with the breaking of the Christmas wafer (oplatek) and Christmas music (kolendy). Sister Johnna cooked up the pierogi and Sister Carol set up the traditional Polish dishes of sausage (kielbasa), cabbage (kapusta), pickles (ogorki) and more. All the foods were labelled and it was great fun hearing the "Southerners" trying to pronounce the Polish names of the foods. Next, the guests moved to the convent next door where they enjoyed some coffee and desserts. The Sisters were very proud to share their heritage with dear friends.
