On May 23rd, some of the registered children at the Felician Center returned for an event that provided some learning beyond the classroom. The children enjoyed some outdoor play, created a mosaic art project to take home and engaged in a service project.
Sister Susanne read the Bible story of the Good Samaritan and related it to the daily acts of kindness needed in the world today. Sister Carol prepared toiletries for the children to package that would be shared with the Vital Aging senior citizens. This was to introduce the children to the idea of service.
Sister Johnna, known as the “snack queen”, picked up corn dogs for the snack for the children. The children each chose an outdoor play item eg. Water squirters, sticky mits or hula hoops, bags of candy and and a Subway gift card as their takeaways to start off Memorial weekend and summertime.
