Kids’ Festival 2025

“Play is our brain’s favorite way of learning” - Diane Ackerman

On May 7th, the children from the Learning Center enjoyed multiple play activities to celebrate the ending of the school year. There was the inflatable jump house and slide that filled the children with laughter. There was a ring toss game to win jars of peanut butter, Spaghetti O's, apple juice and Sprite. Indoors the boys constructed wooden cars while the girls crafted a hanging of the Our Father for their bedrooms. The children also received some new T-shirts from a benefactor in Myrtle Beach. Of course, there was an ice cream treat, and all the children went home with a takeout chicken nuggets Happy Meal for their supper.

Shacora Speights, Francis Marion University student, completed her school year and gave us a call. Years ago, Shacora was in the Felician Center after school program and received one of the BDGP assistance grants for college. She called if she could volunteer with us and we put her to work with the ring toss game and more during the Kids Festival.  Thank you Shacora.
