September Learning Adventure

Children from Kdg. to Gr. 5 returned to the Felician Center on the September early dismissal day for an experience of learning the value of money.  The children rotated through groups learning the value of coins eg. nickel, dime, quarter etc., adding and subtracting money amounts on worksheets and counting amounts of piles of coins.  Each activity helped the children “earn” real coins in their change purses.  After snack and a half hour reading session, the children were able to “shop” with their coins at the $ .01, $ .03, $ .05, $ .10 tables filled with all kinds of trinkets and snacks.  Snacks were the most popular items for the kids to spend their money on before taking home their leftover change.  Some former older students of Learning Adventures assisted with the activities:  Lanis Clemens, Karson Pressley, Paeton Pressly and Kate Tejero. Sisters Carol, Johnna and Susanne coordinated the activities that brought much fun to the learning session.
