Felician Center Honors Martin Luther King Jr.

Members of the Mission Integration Committee, Jean Nexsen, Mary Lisa McGill, Rosa Cherry, Claire Tejero and Felician Sisters Carol, Johnna and Susanne gathered at the Williamsburg Residential Care Center to observe the MLK holiday.

Sister Susanne led an interactive review of some of the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. with the residents. The residents responded to the challenges they face in their living situation and Sister Susanne challenged them to be guided in their words, actions and care for one another and the staff. They were encouraged to walk the path of peace guided by the life of Martin Luther King Jr in their everyday living. Time together ended with a prayer where the residents responded, “make me an instrument of peace”and the singing of “We Shall Overcome”.

Afterwards, the Felician Center volunteers served Kentucky Fried chicken box lunches to the residents. There were plenty of hugs and thanks to go around at the conclusion of the visit.
