In October, the children of the Learning Center participated in several activities that focused on pumpkins. With Sister Susanne, the children read some pumpkin poems and learned about how they grow and their seeds. With Sister Carol, Sister Johnna and volunteers Cathy McClary, Emma Miller and Claire Tejero, the children printed some pumpkin poems on special decorated papers. Together they played a Halloween BINGO with pumpkins, candies, ghosts and more.
There was also a search puzzle to figure out. The children received a pumpkin purchased from the Kingstree Community Youth group pumpkin patch fund raiser. A party favorite, pizza was their snack. Each child received a medium size pizza, enjoyed a slice or two and took the rest of it home to their family.
After reviewing the proper way to go trick or treating, saying “thank you” etc. the children went from room to room for an indoor trick or treating. Trick or treat bags were also prepared for the children with pretzels, candies, fruit snacks, a costume, or orange pumpkin face t-shirts.
