Springtime Generosity Takes a Whole Village

In lieu of the Blessed Angela Meal day at the end of the month, 75 bag lunches were prepared for distribution this morning at Felician Center. Board members Mary Lisa McGill, board chair, Salley Jenkinson, Jean Nexsen, Virginia Jonte, Kelly Atkinson and Rev. Ian Geimer made ham sandwiches, added chips, apples and bottled water to the brown bags. This is response to the Gospel mandate “when I was hungry and thirsty, you gave me to eat and to drink” for what you do to others you did for Christ.

On March 24, Terry Jarka, benefactor from the Buffalo area delivered a van filled with donated toiletries, school supplies, Easter items, throws, clothing and more for the Felician Center. Twice a year, Terry collects the new items, drives the 900 miles to deliver and generously share with folks in need. Volunteers, Cathy McClary, Emma Miller, Sellecia Pressley, Virginia Jonte, Sister Johnna, Sister Carol and Sister Susanne unload the van and sort the items to be ready for the Clothing Closet on Friday. Sister Carol made up Easter baskets with the donated items that will be available as needed.

Williamsburg Technical College UPWARD BOUND students collected food items for the Felician Food Pantry. Ms. Washington coordinated and delivered the much needed food items on time for holiday distribution.
